    Music Composer Tutorial

Post by HideSpy on Sat Feb 14, 2009 4:20 pm

This is a little tutorial to show you how to make a song Cool

    -> Maki-Mabi's Sequencer <-

    - Download the program 3ML sequencer
    - Install the program

    Step 1

    - Relax and take a breath

    Step 2

    - Take a quick look at your tools before any creation.. Sometimes it can help to give you some good ideas to make your own songs

    -----------------------------

Here we have a toolbar on the top. I suggest to use the quick button, it's better and faster. So, here we go:

    First Toolbar

The first options i think you all already know what is it. So we will jump to the others:
Note: The 2 pictures followed are in 4 rests

    - Expand: This is a option to let work on 64 rests notes, it will expand the window to let you see the notes much easier

    - Retract: This is the inverse of Expand option. It will reduce your window to let you see all the song
(can be used on slow songs principaly)

Add and delete Beat or Mesure
To add or delete a section, you have to put your separate line to the place that you want to work, like this:

To place your separate bar, click on the top and notice that the bar will follow the "Rests" selected:

    Add a Mesure:
    Add a Beat: . . .

The "Preference" is never used except for expert and professional (it's not me lol)
So if you understand this part, you can use as your own..

Document Setting: You can use this if you really want to edit your name file (Title, Author..)

Keyboard input: This option is to let you show the keyboard horizontaly.

Add part: If you want to add a new part to create a duet song or trio.
You can remove this part by using "Delete part"

Edit your part by using "Part option"

    How to create a song
The second toolbar is used to play the song and create your notes
When you create a song, you can use the Metronome to follow the beat of your song.

To create a song you only have to click in the window to place a note.
You can also click on the keyboard to find the exact note you are searching for.

    ---------------------------------------

You can see on the top the Rests for your notes.
The rests will give you a quick or slow note (4= slow, 64= fast)

Use the Right Button of your mouse to select if you want to cut, copy or edit the notes selected.

On the botton, it will shows the Melody and chords. If you click on one of them it will only shows the one selected.
Note that the others will be on transparency and it will let you only work on the selected one.

Double click on a note to edit:
All the followed notes will have the same edit until another edit will be used.

Note: Always put a check mark in the cases to use the options.
    - Tempo Control: The tempo is the beat of your song
    - Volume Control: You can change the volume between 0 to 15. Use the volume to do an effect of fade in or fade out.

In this example, you can see that the volume used can create an effect of echo. Cool
    - Sound Control: The sound is used to reduce the Lengths when you are done with your song.

It will change the Length to this..

So.. We can take an example of the Lengths for Melody that it tooks like 40 Lengths, reduced to 15 with the "Sound Control".
Then you can create longer version of your songs Wink

    -------------------------------------

When you are done with your song you can save it into MMS file.
Notice: The option "Open" doesn't work perfectly.

To open a MMS file, slide your file from your directory to your 3ML Seq.

Now you only have to copy/paste the Melody and Chords into a scroll in your game and enjoy your song Very Happy

Important: To know if you can fit the song into a scroll, i suggest to copy/paste your melody-chords in the Composer site to see
the Lengths before to create a scroll. So you will see if you have the requirements to create a scroll
or if your song is too big, you will have to work on it to reduce.. <_<

I hope this tutorial will help you to create a good song and please, send me your comments of this tutorial or your questions
    it will be appreciated Cool
